This is the 2nd album by Chanticlear. The original versions were released in 2002. Notice the change in the spelling of the bands name.(Cease and desist indeed)

The recording and release of this album was a bit of a f**king cluster dump. It was released twice. First as a self released DIY "cut out the badly photo copied inserts before the show" demo. Then on OVERLOOK Records as their 6th release (OKR6).

There are 2 different mixes for each version of this album. The first version had 1 hidden song and 3 bonus songs on it. The 2nd (OKR) version only had the original 11 song album. The band promptly broke up after the OKR version was released.

This new (2014) 3rd and FINAL version contains all 11 songs from the original album (including the bonus song after Ode to Jonee) plus the 3 hidden songs from the 1st version, plus 2 unreleased songs, and a new version of Merry Xmas Asshole that was released on a Jonee Earthquake Xmas album (Spiral 42) .

The recording of this album had a budget of about $3.09. We recorded it on a 4 Track in our practice space. We shared the space with another band, and the room was about 7 feet wide by 20 feet long. The album was broken up into about 4 sessions total. We had some shows in between sessions, and we moved to another practice space while recording. When it came time to mix, consistency of sound was a bit of a problem to say the least.

The 2nd version of the album was mixed overnight and very quickly. Matt (Overlook CEO) needed so it could be pressed ASAP. This didn't result in a better mix than the first try......not at all. "Why didn't we use the first version of the CD for our label release" you ask? Lets move on shall we.

Which brings us to the newest version of the album. All songs have now been re-mastered and also re-mixed using the original 4 track tapes. This new version fixes many of the original sound issues (tape hiss, levels, track volume, random noise/conversations during songs, cardboard sounding vocals etc). If you view this as more of a live album, I think it's pretty ok. It sums up what Chanticlear sounded like at the time of this recording. Enjoy! (Eric)

Special note on the bonus songs: Songs 12,13, and 14 were all on one track on the original version.
